Toasters Breakfast Club
We run a breakfast club Monday to Friday between 7.45am and 8.35am, the children then join their class in the normal way, younger children are individually escorted to class.
The children are provided with a healthy nutritional breakfast from a choice of healthy cereals, wholemeal toast with a choice of spreads such as jam, marmalade, peanut butter etc. Fruit juice, milk or water will be offered and then breakfast is followed by a period of play and activities. Pilot studies show that Breakfast clubs have a positive effect on children resulting in better behaviour, greater concentration, improved attendance and punctuality, less bullying, improved social skills and confidence to interact with children and adults alike. The activities help develop the children’s learning in an informal way and help them understand the importance of healthy eating.
The club aims to support both working and non working parents and you may be able to get extra help with the costs via Working Tax credit if one or both parents work at least 16 hours a week. Details of how to claim will be supplied with registration forms, once you apply for a place or if you wish to find out beforehand you can log onto http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/ or phone 0845 9000 404.
The cost of each session is £3.00 per day and you will be sent an invoice and pay directly into the bank.
Places are currently on a ‘contract only’ basis, you sign up for set days each week and will be charged for these sessions even if your child does not attend.
You will receive a registration form, where more details will be taken of your child’s dietary issues, emergency numbers etc.
The Breakfast Club is led by qualified staff who are first-aid and food hygiene trained.
Supervisors: Michelle Haynes, Karen Elphick, Laura Prior and Jane Jenner.
