Head’s weekly update 29.4.22

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to this week’s update.

The children and staff have been super busy this week. The Year 3 children have visited the local museum and I understand that they had a fabulous time learning and exploring new things about Smuggling, including handling artefacts and hearing amazing versions of events.  A group of year 1 children have visited the library today. This is very exciting because this means they are working so hard with their reading and making accelerated progress that they will be able to use their very own library card and will be able to access this space throughout the school day… how exciting! Pictured above are the Year 1’s relaxing in the space and getting familiar with where books are located for their ability and interest within the library. Mrs Wells and Mrs Speed were particularly proud.

Miss Smith, our History curriculum lead, has been very busy planning and organising our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events. Please do read the bulletin and letter sent home to parents for details and significant events. We intend to celebrate this historic moment in style and wanted to let you know in advance of our plans. Alongside this, Mrs Meader our PSHE curriculum lead, has organised for the Dogs Trust to visit us the same week where the children will experience high level workshops and experiences.

We know the SATs week for Year 6 is approaching us but we wish to reassure the children and the parents alike that the team have organised the week carefully, planning for adult support where necessary and ensuring that the pupils are happy and well motivated and ready to shine and try their very best.

We are very excited because next week we have REAL PE coming to visit the teachers and deliver a professional development staff meeting. Mrs Harman, our PE lead, has organised for us to start work with some specialist PE providers. It is an exciting opportunity that will provide us with a bank of resources, ideas and PE training to ensure that our pupils and teachers have access to a high quality PE curriculum.

Have a fantastic long weekend, enjoy the bank holiday.

Kind regards,

Miss Baker
