Head of School Weekly Update 3.12.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to this week’s update. It is that time of year again when we are preparing for Christmas festivities. David Wilson Homes is once again encouraging children in East Sussex to think about taking a more sustainable approach to Christmas this year. The housebuilder is building new homes at its Rosewood Park development in Bexhill-On-Sea and has donated 120 Christmas tree saplings to pupils at the King Offa Primary Academy. The pupils above will be able to take their saplings home to grow their very own Christmas Tree. It is a timely encouragement for children and families to take small steps towards protecting the environment and as an alternative to single use of plastic trees.

The school building has been buzzing as Christmas singing and performances are well underway, you will be in for a treat when we send you the films during the last week of term. Bell and Darling class will be singing and performing a class Nativity, Year 1 will be singing and performing, Year 2 will be singing and sharing the story of Christmas, Year 3, 4 and 5 will each visit the church and sing carols and finally Year 6 will be performing songs from their Christmas concert that was due to take place at the DLWP.  (Year 6 will be first to share). We aim to send these to you during the last week of term and we hope you will enjoy watching the children as much as we have enjoyed learning, performing and organising the performances. The children are excited for sure and have worked really hard.  Letters to confirm and possible ‘plea’  for costumes will follow next week.

Children have been working incredibly hard and amazing the teachers with their engaging learning behaviours. Teachers and Teaching Assistants have been working hard to help the children use our new playground equipment correctly. We have been spending lots of time learning how to use it and thinking of fun and safe ways to play it. We have been learning lots of new games and rules of respect, taking turns and sharing during our circle time activities.

Have a restful weekend. Thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes,

Miss N Baker
