Head of School’s weekly update 1.10.31

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to this weeks update. We have been extremely busy and hard working this week and it looks like lots of you have been too! I have seen some beautiful, creative and thoughtful curriculum projects already this term. I have played some fantastic board games that children have made, read some incredible stories and fact files and even held a river and a pyramid! Wow! Thank you for working with your children at home on these amazing homework tasks.

Year 4 have started learning to play recorders this term and the above photo is of the children in Curie class participating in one of their music sessions this week. Miss Smith is incredibly proud of her class and wanted to share her class’s successes. Well done, they are all trying their best at learning to play a musical instrument.

Nurture classes have been back in action and are very well attended with children from across the whole school . I was fortunate enough to be invited over for snack with some Year 3 children. I was impressed with their manners and sharing skills but I did notice how brilliantly they washed up! The nurture team are so happy with how these groups of children have settled. Well done.

Next week is National Poetry day and I would like to tell you about it…

National Poetry Day is the annual mass celebration on the first Thursday of October that encourages all to enjoy, discover and share poetry. This year, National Poetry Day takes place on 7 October 2021, and the theme is ChoiceNational Poetry Day generates an explosion of activity nationwide, thousands of amazing events across the UK – on doorsteps and at kitchen tables, in gardens and streets, in schools, libraries and public spaces both online and offline – all celebrating poetry’s power to bring people together. Mrs Crozier has organised some poetry sessions to take place in class and I can’t wait to share what King Offa pupils did to celebrate the special day. Take a look on line to find out more if you wish by visiting  https://nationalpoetryday.co.uk/poems/

The book fair has been a huge success this term. Thank you so much; we are thrilled that we have already claimed over £800 (in commission) worth of books for our own school library! We couldn’t have done it without you and your children’s love of reading. We have one last opportunity (last chance saloon) to buy a book or two from the book fair on Tuesday 5th October. Please see the bulletin for more information on this.

Lastly, I am excited to announce that there are some Parent Governor opportunities available at King Offa Primary Academy. If you are at all interested in being involved with our LAB (Local Academy Board) please see the bulletin for more details or alternatively call the King Offa office to collect an application form. I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a lovely weekend,

Kind regards,

Miss Baker
