Heads Update 17.9.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to this week’s update. We have been so impressed with how the children have come in to school and settled so well, back to routines, back to super learning behaviours and back to working so hard.

The Early Years team and Key stage 1 teachers and teams have been working incredibly hard and have been busy taking part in regular training to ensure that Read Write Inc (RWI) is delivered to the highest of standards. Mrs Foot has sent all parents of EYFS and KS1 a very useful leaflet and letter to explain the principles of RWI and how parents can support their children at home. Please visit the links on our Facebook page to some great video clips that are really helpful and explain carefully how to use the resources that are sent home.  You may spot your child too! Great job to all who took part. If you have any questions about RWI please get in touch and we will endeavour to answer them as soon as we can.

Keystage 2 teachers and teams have been equally hard working on raising the standards of writing. The teachers have been busy planning and preparing some exciting writing opportunities for our pupils.

Our first trip of the academic year went ahead on Tuesday. Year 3 visited Blackberry Farm and had an amazing time. Although the weather wasn’t on our side it certainly didn’t dampen any of the enjoyment. The children were so well behaved and interested in learning about how to run a farm and look after animals. The children were able to feed and touch the animals , above the children were taking turns to stroke the much loved rabbit! The Year 3 team are very proud of their classes.  Well done to all.

Mr Tim McCarthy (CEO) visited us on Wednesday and he was so impressed. He visited every classroom and was so proud of the fantastic learning taking place. He commented on the wonderful feel and sense of purpose that he felt when walking around the school. What a fantastic snapshot of King Offa, well done to pupils and staff especially!

Thank you for your continued support with homework projects and reading. We are thrilled with this additional level of encouragement. It is invaluable!

Have a very lovely weekend.
