Head of School update 9.7.21
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to this week’s Head’s update.
Year 2 children had a fantastic ‘Evacuee Day’ on Monday. The children looked amazing, thank you for kindly helping this day to go ahead, the outfits were quite wonderful!. The children have really engaged in the learning and this was a real celebration of the great efforts from not only the pupils but the teachers alike. I am not so sure that the food tasting was enjoyed by all… spam and corned beef do tend to have a required taste!
Reception children have been working hard preparing for the transition to year 1. I am impressed with how their behaviours for learning have progressed. They have engaged well in the exploring and learning activities that have been set up on the tables … just like year 1! When I visited the classrooms I was overjoyed to see such hardworking children. They were planting cress today and it was a joy to listen to the children talking about what seeds need to grow and linking it to their topic about growing things off the land.
The children have been busy practicing for their sports days next week. Fingers crossed that the weather holds out. Swimming is going well and I can’t praise the children enough for their sensible attitudes and exemplary behaviour in the pool and outside in the Pod! Our swimming coach has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the King Offa team.
I would like to mention that we will continue with the staggered starts and finishes until the end of term. It would be unsettling for the children to change things for the last three days of school and I do hope that you support my decision. We will however, guided by the Government guidance, let you know our plans for September in due course.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss N Baker
