Head of School update 30.4.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to this week’s update.

It has been a busy, exciting and fun week. Reception class spotted the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ prowling outside their learning and exploring area…they need to hunt him down so have created some wanted posters. They are fantastic!

Year 1 have worked incredibly hard. Pictured this week are a group of  enthusiastic readers who are visiting and using the school library independently. It really is such an achievement and shows how the pupils have made incredible progress with their reading skills. Mrs Wells was very proud and couldn’t wait to share this fabulous snap.

The school field has been opened and the pupils have been enjoying the freedom to play and enjoy the sunshine. PE and Science lessons have also been enjoyed on the field.

I would like to thank the Pastoral Team, they are doing an amazing job at providing support and care to children and families who have found the return to school a challenge. A range of nurture provision including mentoring and learning breaks have been planned and I know the children are enjoying their time with the team. Mrs Bennett has thoroughly enjoyed her first week at King Offa and has already commented on the polite, helpful and enthusiastic pupils we have.

KS2 classes have welcomed 4 trainee teachers from Brighton university, welcome to King Offa! They are extremely lucky to have such excellent class mentors and focused pupils to work with. I know they are enjoying being part of our team.

I must share the most rewarding moment for me this week; it was entering the hall one afternoon to find Mrs King leading her dance club once more. The children were just amazing; it brought a tear to my eye to think that they had not been able to do this for so long, their smiling faces and fabulous moves were priceless. Thank you Mr and Mrs King!

Clubs are slowly returning and it is such a delight to see the engagement and joy!

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend,

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

Kind regards,

Miss N Baker
