Head of School Update – 17th July 2020

Dear Parent and Carers,

I hope you are well and are ready for the summer break!

I cannot believe it is the last Head of School update for this academic year, on reflection it has been a challenging time but before we were faced with these difficulties, the pupils at King Offa had been achieving so well and I must say well done to them all!

You’ll see some Year 6 pupils in the photo, they were so proud of their Lowry paintings. They were keen to talk about how Lowry is famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of North West England in the mid-20th century. Well done!

This time of year always comes with a little sadness when we say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils but a huge good luck comes from us all and exciting times are ahead for you in your new secondary schools… take care and have fun learning more and more! I hope to see some of you next week when you are able to collect your T-shirts and books and say farewell in person.

In other news…

“Goodbyes, Good luck, Welcome and Congratulations”

Although we will be very sad to say goodbye to Mrs O’Donnell, who is leaving us at the end of term, we want to say congratulations to her and a huge good luck as she leaves the country to start an amazing new journey in Spain… thank you so much for your incredible contributions over the past few years, we will miss you!

Welcome… to our new Year 2 class teacher, Miss Naomi Smith, she is very excited to be joining the team and cannot wait to meet her new class ‘Nightingale’ in September. Another big welcome is to our new Deputy Head Teacher, Mr Phillip Dawson who will also be joining us in September. I know he is very much looking forward to meeting you all! I am sure you join me in saying ‘Hello’ to our new members of staff!

I am so excited to be able to tell you that Mrs Irving (EYFS Leader/ Assistant Head) is expecting her first baby in July, so arrival is very soon! I want to wish her the very best and send her our huge congratulations! She has asked me to let you all know that she will miss you all very much whilst on her maternity leave but is looking forward to seeing you in the near future when she returns to King Offa next year.

Mrs J Meader, one of our Teaching Assistants, is also expecting her second baby in August! We wish her well and say ‘congratulations’ to her and we look forward to meeting baby and welcoming her back after her maternity leave.

I must say a huge thanks to all of you, staff have been overwhelmed with your support, kind words and kind gifts. Thank you to Alison Locke for your amazing gift of beautiful books for our library and classrooms, they will be treasured and well used for sure!

And finally…

Today, information regarding September will be sent to you via email. Please remember these are draft plans and that we have endeavoured to plan a safe return. It will look a little different, times and provision will too, however, our priority will always remain the safety of our pupils, parents and staff. Thank you for your understanding.

Have a fantastic rest and enjoy a well-deserved break whether you’ve been learning at home or school, take some time to relax and recharge those batteries ready for September! I look forward to seeing you all then.

Take care,

Miss N Baker
