Head of School Update – Friday 31st January 2020
Welcome to this week’s Weekly Update!
It’s been another busy week in the life of King Offa…
Pupils in Reception have been welcoming many visitors to the school. On Wednesday, a fire engine from the Bexhill Fire Station was parked in our Nuresry car-park. The pupils went to visit the fire-engine and were shown how the equipment worked and talked about fire-safety – the spraying of the hose was definitely the best bit. Today, Nurse Beth visited Bell and Darling Classes to talk about her work as a nurse and keeping healthy. The pupils asked some fantastic questions. The pupils are learning about the ‘heroes’ in our local community.
This week, pupils representing the school have been rehearsing ahead of their ‘Time to Dance’ performance, taking place at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings, at the end of this term. We will be represented by a mix of girls and boys of all ages. They have been working hard on their dance moves and routines and with a few more rehearsal sessions left, will be polishing their steps ahead of the performance. This year’s theme is linked to the sea.
Next week is ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’, a national week of awareness. We will be talking to pupils about mental health in school, and how to promote a positive healthy lifestyle, physically and mentally. This year’s theme is ‘Find Your Brave’. The Children’s Mental Health website can be visited at www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/parents-and-carers/, which has a ‘parent and carers’ section, which you may find useful.
