Head of School Update – Friday 28th June 2019

Welcome to this week’s update!

It’s been another fantastic week at King Offa Primary Academy!

It’s been a jam-packed week! Children in Year 1 took part in our Beach School activities on Monday, learning how to keep themselves safe and how to look after the beach. The children had a great morning. Thank you to Miss Andrews.

On Tuesday, we welcomed representatives from Guide Dogs UK to join us for a special whole-school assembly. We have been reaching out to our local community, inviting them into school to talk about what they do and to educate our pupils about important local, national and international issues. The children met Quince and his owner, Suzanne, and Sue, a representative from Guide Dogs UK, who explained the invaluable role of a guide dog, in providing independence, loyalty and friendship to their owners.

On Wednesday, pupils in Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful day at the Herstmonceux Science Centre and Observatory, and returned enthusiastic and full of new scientific facts. Pupils in Year 5 took part in a ‘WOW’ Day ate Bexhill Academy and our Year 6 pupils have been experiencing transition days at their new secondary schools. We are looking forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday!

It was great to meet our new cohort of Reception pupils for 2019 yesterday evening. The children and their parents collected their first King Offa book-bag and found their new classrooms. We are excited to be welcoming the children into school shortly.

Our ‘Music Showcase’ is taking place on Tuesday 2nd July, for parents of pupils in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. There will be two performances (a morning and afternoon performance) – please see this week’s Bulletin for further details. The Music Showcase provides children with the opportunity to perform learned skills to a larger audience. We hope you will join us and provide the children with welcomed support and encouragement.

We hope that the weather stays fair (and not too hot) for our Sports Day events next Thursday and that you and your families will be able to join us. The Key Stage 2 event (Years 3-6) takes place in the morning. Parents are invited to join us from 9.00am. We plan on opening the top gate (to the top playground) so that parents can access the field via this entrance. They Key Stage 1 event (Reception, Years 1 and 2) will take place after lunch. Parents are invited to join us from shortly after 1.00pm. Children in Key Stage 1 will be able to be signed out of school once Sports Day has finished. We hope to see you there!
