Head of School Update – Friday 17th May 2019

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Update!

There has been lots going on at King Offa Primary Academy this week, particularly in Year 6, where our pupils have this week finished their end of Key Stage 2 SATs. I must take this opportunity to say ‘Well done’ to everyone involved this week – the pupils and staff. We have 60 children in our Year 6 cohort this year and each and every one of them has given their very best effort across the six different tests. Of this, I am immensely proud. The staff team has been exceptional, providing support and guidance to the pupils throughout the week. I know the children are very grateful. Thank you to our parents of pupils in Year 6, too – you have provided fantastic support and encouragement to your children, so ‘thank-you’ to you!

As I write this, preparations are gathering pace for this afternoon’s ‘Bring-and-Buy’ Sale. This takes place at 2.30pm in the Main Hall and we hope you will be able to join us. There will be plenty of stalls and games. If you are attending, your child can be signed out from their class at 2.30pm. Thank you to Mrs Jenner for organising this event and to our many parent helpers who have offered to help this afternoon.

Well done to all of our winners in this week’s Celebration Assembly! Our Kings and Queens for this week are:

YR – Roddy G and Henry O

Y1 – Kira A and James B

Y2 – Eleni W and Frankie M

Y3 – Haile J, Freddie F and Rhys B

Y4 – Elizabeth D and Maxwell L

Y5 – George F and Austin S

Y6 – Gabriella E and Jack W

In our ‘Attendance Raffle’, there were 381 children with an attendance of 100%. Well done to Kai L in Year 5 who was drawn as this week’s lucky winner and collected a special prize. In this term’s ‘Attendance Challenge’, YR Red and Y2 Yellow lead the way in Key Stage 1, with 14 points each. In Key Stage 2, Y4 Ravens top the leader-board with 11 points.

Good luck to the King Offa Handball Team who are competing this afternoon. I hope to include a report in next week’s update about their performances.

Next week is the last week of Term 5 (yes, it is a short term). As usual, there will be different Paragon events taking place in school. This week’s Bulletin has further details about these.

Have an enjoyable weekend!
