Head of School Update – Friday 10th May 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you all enjoyed the long Bank Holiday weekend! It’s been a very busy and rather hectic ‘shortened’ week.

Well done to all of our Year 2 pupils, who this week have been very well behaved, focused and tried their best at the end of Key Stage 1 tests. These have gone very smoothly and I must say a huge ‘Well done’ to every single child. It’s never the most enjoyable week at school for them but I have been immensely proud of the hard work they have shown. Next week, it’s the turn of our Year 6 pupils. Along with every Year 6 pupil across the country, this year’s end of Key Stage 2 tests take place next week and I am sure you will join me in wishing each of the 60 pupils the very best. They are well-prepared and ready to give the tests their all and I know that this is exactly what the pupils will do. Good luck to every single one of you!

If you do have a child in Year 6, can I please ask that they arrive at school, promptly, with a bottle of water, having had breakfast and a good night’s sleep. The tests will run from Monday through to Thursday, and start from 9.00am. Pupils have to be in school before this time.

Well done to all of our winners in this week’s Celebration Assembly! Our Kings and Queens for this week are:

YR – Jack M-G and Isyla D

Y1 – Katie A and Chloe V

Y2 – Tiffany A and Hollie B

Y3 – Demi-Mia C, Ruby C and Annabella W

Y4 – Thais B and Sammy S

Y5 – Skye M and Hudson K

Y6 – Ashley L and Rubie C-G

In our ‘Attendance Raffle’, there were 382 children with an attendance of 100%. Well done to Rocco B in YR who was drawn as this week’s lucky winner and collected a special prize. In this term’s ‘Attendance Challenge’, YR Red and Y2 Yellow lead the way in Key Stage 1, with 14 points each. In Key Stage 2, Y4 Ravens top the leader-board with 11 points.

We are looking forward to hosting our ‘Bring-and-Buy Sale’ in school next Friday (17th May). This starts at 2.30pm. Further details can be found in this week’s bulletin. I hope you will be able to join us. I’d also like to remind you that Paragon events take place from Monday 20th May – some of these events are in school and some are being shared as a video. Please check with your child’s class teacher for more details about your child’s Paragon event.

Finally, Mrs Rose is saying ‘Goodbye’ (but not forever) as she begins her maternity leave. Mrs Rose works with many children across the school and I know you will want to wish her well for the imminent arrival of her first baby.

Enjoy the weekend!
