Head of School Update – Friday 7th December 2018
Welcome to this week’s update!
Well done to our Year 6 pupils who, last night, took part in this year’s ‘Christmas Big Sing’, at the De La Warr Pavilion. The pupils, in collaboration with other pupils across Bexhill, including Pebsham and Little Common, sang and performed a collection of festive songs to a ‘packed-house’ auditorium. The schools were given a unique opportunity to sing alongside a full orchestra and were joined by HAYSO (Hastings Area Youth Symphony Orchestra). I know the children were really inspired by the young musicians, their skills and the quality of their performance. The pupils represented the school superbly and I was very proud to see their commitment, confidence and, above all, enjoyment during the songs. Well done to all of the pupils who took part and represented King Offa, and to their parents and families who supported them, too. Thank you also to Miss Langton, Mrs Meader, Miss Baker and Mrs Jenner who supported the children on the night. A special mention must go to Logan, who gave a fantastic solo performance, alongside pupils from the other schools.
Throughout the school, pupils continue to work hard, which is fantastic to see, even in the run up to a hectic festive period. Standards in presentation and handwriting are high – pupils are enjoying writing portal stories, applying their Maths skills and there are some super Medieval castle models in Year 5, which are really taking shape. We look forward to sharing these with you when they are finished!
As mentioned, there is a lot going on across the next couple of weeks, with festive performances and carols to fit in. If you are unsure about any of the details, please ask your child’s class teacher who can update you. We recognise that the change of routine around this time of year can be particularly difficult for some children but we will continue to try and keep things as normal as possible.
Finally, ‘Good Luck’ to pupils in Years 5 and 6, who are taking part in the ‘End Zone’ tournament at Glenleigh Park today – should it go ahead!
Have an enjoyable weekend!
