Head of School Update – Friday 28th September 2018
Today we welcomed a VIP to King Offa! Maria Dawes, the Regional Schools Commissioner for the South, came to visit, as part of a tour to the Bexhill schools within the Aurora Academies Trust. Joined by our CEO, Tim McCarthy, Maria toured the classrooms and spoke to pupils about their learning and their favourite Paragon units. She commented on how well-behaved the pupils were, how focused they were on their learning and the positive learning environment.
Yesterday, as part of their Paragon learning about the ‘history of farming’, pupils in Year 3 had a fabulous visit to Plumpton College, an agricultural, farming college, on the outskirts of Lewes. Whilst there, pupils learnt how the wheat grown in the nearby fields is turned into flour, how the cows are milked (and how this has changed over the years) and the names of the different breeds of pigs that live on the farm. The weather was fantastic and a great day was had by all of the pupils. Thank you to all of the staff and our volunteer helpers who supported the trip.
Thank you to those of you who joined us for our ‘Meet-and-Greet’ afternoon on Tuesday and for your positive feedback. I hope you found this useful and enjoyed the opportunity to see your child’s new classroom and meet their teacher. We will hold a Parents’ Evening in Term 2.
And a quick reminder that our Paragon Events for Unit 1 will take place from Monday 15th October 2018, throughout the week. Please see this week’s Bulletin for more details. We look forward to seeing you there.
I wish you all an enjoyable weekend.
