Weekly Update – 8th June 2018
Welcome back to the new school term! Unbelievably, it is Term 6 already – we’ve got lots to look forward to! I’m really looking forward to the school Sports Day, taking place on Thursday 5th July – this is always a highlight of the school calendar – and we hope you will all be able to join us for this and the many other events taking place across the next few weeks.
It’s been a fantastic week, throughout the school. I’ve seen so many children this week, proud to show off their learning and their achievements. Pupils in our Reception classes have been doing some incredible counting and I have enjoyed talking to the children about their fabulous Paragon projects, that they have been so desperate to show me. Thank you for your support with these. I’ve seen some excellent pieces of writing, too, including magical powers and instructions for writing magical potions. It’s a pleasure to see the children thriving and enjoying what they are learning.
All children, from Years 2 to 6 have now been given their ‘Accelerated Reader’ target for the term – ask your child about theirs! We have so far awarded 28 ‘Word Millionaire’ prizes this year, which is an excellent achievement and, with one term still to go, it would be great to see so many more!
Despite some threatening clouds, we have managed to keep the pool open for every session of every day this week, giving every child in school the opportunity this week. I have only heard good things about how much the pupils have enjoyed it and well they have listened and given their best. Thank you for your support in ensuring costumes, towels, bags and kits have been named. The timetable for the sessions has been shared via the school’s Facebook page.
May I remind you that Friday 15th June is an INSET Day and the school will be closed for pupils. The school will be open as normal on Monday 18th June.
Thank you for your continued support of the school. I’d like to wish you all a relaxing weekend and an enjoyable final term of the year.
