Weekly Update – 18th May 2018

What a great week it has been! Firstly, I must say ‘Well done’ to all of our Year 6 pupils, who sat their end of key stage tests this week. Each one has been a real credit to the school, showing focus, concentration, perseverance and determination to do their very best – and they certainly did! I’d like to extend my thanks to all of their families for the support of the school – each pupil was here everyday and on-time, and this certainly made a difference to the pupils.

In assembly today, we talked about the ‘Royal Wedding’ of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, that is taking place tomorrow at Windsor Castle. We learned about ‘dukes’ and ‘duchesses’ and how the newly-wed couple could become the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. We would certainly invite them for a visit to King Offa…

As you can see from our featured photograph, our pupils in our Reception classes have had great fun with today’s ‘travelling farm’. They met lots of animals and learned about what the animals eat, where they live and to how look after the animals, carefully. Our thanks to ‘Kidsrome’ who joined us today!

We are excited about the start of the swimming season at King Offa – lessons begin next term! Hopefully, you will have all seen our latest poster, showing the day that your child will swim. We are incredibly lucky to have a pool on our site. As a school within a seaside town, it is essential that all of our pupils learn a range of life skills, including basic water-safety and efficient strokes, all the way up to lifesaving and first-aid.  We are looking forward to welcoming our team of fully qualified teachers to teach all of the children how to swim!

Next week is the final week of Term 5. Paragon events are taking place and our virtual videos will be posted online. Please look out for these via the school’s Facebook page.

Thank you for your continued support of King Offa!

Enjoy the weekend!
