Weekly Update – 20th April 2018

A big welcome back to the new term! It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the school year goes – it’s Term 5 already, with lots to look forward to!

The sun making an appearance has certainly been a welcome change; as always, there has been a great buzz around the school, with children highly focused and engaged with their learning. I have been impressed with the way in which pupils have settled, so quickly, after the Easter break. I am sure this will continue.

In assembly today we welcomed visitors from East Sussex Fire and Rescue service, including the Bexhill Fire Station Manager, and representatives from Bexhill Lions. They were here to celebrate and award the achievements of pupils in school.  Our Year 6 pupils recently attended a local ‘Safety in Action’ workshop, learning new skills to help keep themselves and others safe. Twenty schools attended with more than 600 pupils participating – I am delighted that pupils from King Offa demonstrated outstanding achievement, scoring the greatest number of points as part of the safety award.

In addition, we are very proud of two of our Year 6 pupils who demonstrated great bravery and provided emergency first aid to a local resident, applying their skills from the ‘Safety in Action’ workshops.

Let’s hope the warm weather continues. Should it do so, may I urge you to prepare your child with a hat and apply sun-cream, where necessary.

Wishing you all a restful weekend and a happy and positive term ahead!
