Weekly Update – 3rd November 2017

Over the half term holiday Mr Weller and Miss Harrison worked hard to manage some improvement works to the office area and the Reception playground. We have changed the layout of the office so that if you come through the visitor’s entrance you are now greeted straight away rather than having to come into the school building to find the reception desk. In the Reception playground some of the old fencing and fixed climbing frame have been removed and the whole area has been resurfaced. We’ve moved the entrance for children back a few metres which has created more space and will allow the ‘mud kitchen’ to be located near the outside tap and drain. Both these things are very important for making mud pies! We have ordered equipment to replace the climbing frame and are looking forward to it arriving shortly. Many thanks to Miss Harrison and Mr Weller for all their hard work.

It was a great pleasure to be able to give out fifty four certificates in assembly to children who successfully completed the Summer Reading Challenge organised by East Sussex Libraries. This is by far the highest number of children from King Offa who have taken part in the annual challenge. Well done to the children and thank you to all the parents who supported their child’s reading over the summer break.

In assembly this morning I also spoke to the children about staying safe around fireworks. I reminded our year five and six children to stay away from any older children who may be playing with fireworks. There were reports of teenagers letting off fireworks around the skate park so please be extra vigilant.

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
