Headteachers Update – 12th May 2017

This morning the children in Year Six had the opportunity to drive the latest kit car creation that a group of pupils have been working on over the course of the year. This is the third year running that Mr Findlay has given up his time to run this great project with a group of children. They learnt a huge amount and had great fun driving!

We have over twenty volunteers who give up their time to help support the children and school. We are very grateful to all of them and really appreciate the contribution that they make. If you’ve got a skill or talent that you would like to share, are interested in reading with children or helping out in class please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact the school office.

Our Year Six pupils took their SAT’s tests this week and were a real credit to the school. We had 100% attendance for all of the tests and the children took them in their stride and should be very proud of their efforts. We celebrated their hard work in assembly this morning and I know that they will be glad that the tests are behind them so that they can now focus on the exciting opportunities that they have over their remaining time at King Offa. This includes their residential trip to London, the Paragon Spectacular and taster days at their secondary schools.

Finally a big thank you to those of you who took the time to read the information we shared recently about the funding issues we face in schools. Myself and group of Headteachers from across East Sussex met with Huw Merrimann MP this morning to discuss the issues that schools are facing with the current funding situation. The forthcoming general election will provide the opportunity to see how importantly the different political parties view education and allow us to have our say in the future of funding for schools.

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
