Headteachers Weekly Update – 14th October 2016

Last week finished with a visit from our local MP Huw Merriman and this week we have again welcomed many visitors to our Paragon events. Mr Merriman met with children from year six and spoke about the job the MP’s do. They asked lots of interesting questions particularly about the Houses of Parliament which they will have the opportunity to visit on the residential trip at the end of the year. Pictured above is Mr Merriman speaking with the children.

It has been a pleasure to welcome so many parents, carers, relatives and friends into school this week for our Paragon events. We have been teaching Paragon at King Offa for four years now and it continues to provide a really great curriculum for the pupils. I have worked in schools where the only time that parents get to see what the children have been doing is at parent’s evenings and I’m very pleased that this is not the case at King Offa. This year we have developed the curriculum further and are always looking at ways to link it to different subject areas. We are also looking to make sure that we increase the number of enrichment activities that are on offer either in the form of trips away from school or by bringing visitors into King Offa.

Finally please make sure that you come along to parents evenings next week to speak with your child’s teacher. Mrs Bishop our SENCo is also available on both evenings if you’d like to speak with her.

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
