Headteachers Weekly Update – 1st July 2016

It’s been a hectic few weeks at King Offa with all classes working hard. Our year sixes had a fabulous time on their week-long stay in London. They toured many of the capitals attractions and really made the most of every minute of the trip. The children I spoke to found it hard to pick out one favourite thing as they enjoyed the whole experience so much. Lots of them said that watching the Lion King was a great experience as was a trip on the London Eye. It’s great to have been able to offer this opportunity to the children and we hope that we can work with the other schools in our academy Trust to repeat the experience next year.

Year five have also had the opportunity to get away and this week lots of them have been at Blacklands Farm camping and enjoying some really exciting activities. The weather was not kind and it’s fair to say that they got a bit muddy. However it didn’t seem to dampen their spirits and when I visited them yesterday afternoon they were having a great time. Pictured above is one of our brave children tackling the wobbly bridge!

Huge thanks to everyone who came and supported King Offa at our Summer Fair last Friday. We were lucky with the weather and it was a real pleasure seeing so many children enjoying themselves and such a huge amount of support for the school. Special thanks to the people who gave up their time to prepare things and run stalls. Laura Hicks deserves a very special mention as she was the driving force behind making it happen and she worked tirelessly to organise such a great event. I can reveal that we raised almost £1400 for the school. This money will be hugely useful in helping us to keep improving things for the children and I’m very grateful to everyone who came and spent some money!

Next week is another busy week and we are looking forward to sports day on Wednesday. Full details are in this week’s bulletin. Fingers crossed the sun will be shining for us!

Enjoy the weekend,
