Headteachers Weekly Update – 8th January 2016

A very Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the start of what I am sure will be another very successful year for King Offa. In assembly on Wednesday we looked back at some of the most memorable moments from the last twelve months. The children thought about their goals for this year and also about making the most of new opportunities that are offered to them at school and home.

We have been very pleased to welcome Mrs Hoggarth to the staff team. She has taken over the teaching of Swallows class and I am sure will be a valuable addition to the staff team. I would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Crampton who has agreed to teach Falcons class whilst Mrs Smith is unwell. Mrs Crampton’s retirement may have been the shortest ever! I spent some time with her and Falcons class yesterday afternoon and was very impressed with their knowledge of our solar system which is their science topic for this term.

I would like to say a big thank you and well done to everyone who has worked so hard on helping improve the overall attendance figure for King Offa. At the end of December our overall attendance was 96.25%. This is the highest that it has ever been and puts us significantly above the national average. Special thanks must be given to Miss Smith who works so hard as our attendance officer.

At the end of December every pupil completed a questionnaire on their views of school, learning at King Offa and themselves as learners. Next week we will be sending out our parents questionnaires. Please take a moment to complete them and add any comments that will help us to continue to make sure that we provide the best possible education at King Offa.

Pictured today are children making the most of the sunshine and our new playground equipment!

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
