Headteachers Weekly Update – 16th October 2015

This week children in year two have been working with the children’s author, Catherine Rayner, to help them learn how to write and illustrate their own stories. Catherine has written a number of children’s books and won awards for her work.  On Wednesday they visited Catherine at the De La Warr Pavillion for an interactive session with other schools. On Thursday she came to King Offa and worked with a group of children teaching them how to draw some of the characters from her stories and create their own.

Thank you to everyone who attended the ‘Breakfast Club Special’ on Thursday morning. The hall was really busy and everyone enjoyed the choices on offer for breakfast. Thank you to the breakfast club team for arranging the event. Our breakfast club and after school club runs every day in the Studio. Full details are available from the office.

On Thursday we held a fire drill at school to make sure that our systems for evacuating the building were well prepared. The children behaved impeccably and assembled on the Downs incredibly quietly and sensibly. I was able to congratulate all the children and staff on the way they reacted and feel assured that know what to do in an emergency.

We are looking forward to welcoming you into school next week for our Paragon events!

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
