Headteachers Weekly Update – 26th June 2016

We welcomed back the children in years five and six from Blacklands Farm this afternoon. They had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their adventures. Residential trips provide a fantastic opportunity for our children and we are very pleased to be able to offer them to years five and six next year as well. A huge thank you to Mrs Crampton, Miss Suggit and Miss Winchester who accompanied the children and took care of them for the last three days. They certainly deserve a quiet weekend to recover! Thanks also must go to Mrs Courtnell in the school office who organised the whole trip and made sure that everything was planned safely and ran smoothly.

I spent some time in year one this week and was so impressed with the work they were doing in their English lessons. They have been reading the book ‘Traction Man’ and this week have been designing and writing their own super hero stories. The work I saw was of really high quality and the children were really enjoying themselves.

On Wednesday next week we will be holding our annual sports day. Fingers crossed the weather will stay fine. Key stage one will be in the morning and key stage two in the afternoon. We aim to strike the right balance of competitiveness and fun and I’m sure it will be as successful as last year.

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
