Head of School Weekly Update – 5th December 2014

This morning we welcomed the Director of Children’s Services for East Sussex, Mr Stuart Gallimore, to King Offa. Mr Gallimore heard about the history of the school, the recent improvements and the work of Aurora Academies Trust. He then enjoyed a tour of the school. He observed our reception children in PE, met our Reading Recovery teacher, Helen Guille, and spent time talking to children in years five and six about their experience at King Offa and what makes it such a good school. He left very impressed with what he had seen and lovely compliments about our hardworking children and staff. He is pictured below taking a keen interest in the learning children were doing.

There is a growing collection of Totem Poles appearing in Mrs O’Malley’s class. Thank you to all parents who have supported their children’s learning at home by getting so involved in this project. The variety is brilliant and we are looking for a place in the school where we can put them on display.

You may have seen the signs on Down Road about a road closure on the 22nd of December. I am very pleased and slightly relived to say that the pavement and road service is due to be repaired on this date. Hopefully this will mean no more flooded footpath or potholes in the road. Thank you to Councillor Michael Ensor for helping to get this much needed work done.

Finally good luck to our football team who are in a tournament with other Bexhill schools this afternoon and the children taking part in the nativity play with Mr and Mrs King this weekend at the Manor Gardens.

Enjoy the weekend,

James Freeston
