Head of School Weekly Update – 3rd October 2014
Children in key stage two were this morning treated to a production from the Quantum Theatre company. They put on their show ‘Your Country Needs You’ which told the story of World War One through a blend of acting, singing and dancing. Children in years five and six will be soon be starting a unit of work to coincide with the centenary of the outbreak of the war and we plan to be hosting a display of their learning in the coming weeks.
This year we have invested in new books in key stage one to ensure there is something of interest for all children to read. In assembly this morning the children were introduced to the new books and the way they are organised. We have categorised all books in the library using the Book Banding system. Every book has a coloured sticker on it too show which level it is. Children can choose any book from the level they are on and don’t have to work through them in any particular order.
Next week we look forward to welcoming you to our Paragon events. Dates and times can be found in this week’s bulletin which came home today. The intention of these events is to give parents and carers a chance to share and celebrate the learning that the children have been doing. There is a good chance you will learn something yourself as well!
Enjoy the weekend,
Mr James Freeston
